Overview
SpeedyStride is a fitness service that delivers structured running workouts to your Apple Watch and integrates with Apple's Workout app. We collect only the data necessary to provide this service. We do not sell your data, use advertising networks, or track you across other apps.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account using Sign in with Apple, we collect:
- Email address (or Apple's private relay address if you choose to hide your email)
- First and last name
- A unique identifier assigned by Apple
During registration, we also collect:
- Date of birth
- Country
- Unit preference (metric or imperial)
- Current 5K time and goal 5K time
We use this information to create your account, personalize workout pacing, and sync your data between the SpeedyStride website and apps.
HealthKit Data
With your permission, SpeedyStride reads workout data from Apple HealthKit to detect when you complete workouts opened through our app. Specifically, we access:
- Workout duration
- Distance (if available)
- Calories burned (if available)
- Workout completion timestamp
- WorkoutKit identifier (to match completions to your training plan)
We only access workouts you initiate through SpeedyStride. We cannot see workouts from other apps or workouts you start independently in Apple's Workout app.
Information We Do Not Collect
- Location or GPS route data
- Heart rate or heart rate zones
- Sleep, nutrition, or other health metrics
- Device identifiers for advertising
- Browsing history or search history
- Financial information
How We Use Your Information
- Deliver workouts: Provide structured workouts compatible with Apple's Workout app
- Track progress: Record completed workouts and display your training history
- Personalize pacing: Use your 5K times to calculate appropriate target paces
- Sync data: Keep your information consistent across web and mobile platforms
- Improve the service: Understand aggregate usage patterns (no individual data shared externally)
HealthKit Compliance
We comply with Apple's requirements for HealthKit data:
- HealthKit data is used solely for health and fitness functionality within SpeedyStride
- We do not use HealthKit data for advertising or marketing
- We do not sell or share HealthKit data with data brokers or third parties
- We do not store HealthKit data in iCloud
Data Storage and Security
On your device: SpeedyStride stores temporary data to match workout completions. This includes workout identifiers and timestamps. Local data is automatically deleted after 14 to 30 days depending on type. Your session token is stored securely in the iOS Keychain.On our servers: Your account information and workout history are stored on secure servers in the United States. All data is transmitted using HTTPS encryption.
Third-Party Services
SpeedyStride does not include any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. We use only Apple's native frameworks (HealthKit, WorkoutKit, AuthenticationServices, CoreData). Our telemetry is first-party and minimal.
Data Retention
We retain your account and workout data for as long as your account is active. Local cached data is automatically cleaned up:
- Cached workouts: 7 days
- Workout tracking data: 14 days
- Completion records: 30 days
If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data from our servers within 30 days.
Your Rights and Choices
Revoke HealthKit access: Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → SpeedyStride, then disable permissions. SpeedyStride will no longer track workout completions, but your existing history remains.
Log out: Logging out clears your session token from the device.
Delete your account: Contact us at sung@speedystride.com to request account deletion.
Data export: Contact us at sung@speedystride.com to request a copy of your data.
Children's Privacy
SpeedyStride is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
International Users
SpeedyStride is operated from the United States. By using the service, you consent to the transfer and processing of your data in the United States.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email before taking effect.
